In this article we explain how to change the title of a menu item.
Below we will tell you step by step how to do this.
- First of all, go to the page where you want to change the menu title. You do this like you navigate on any other website.
- Then press on the gear icon in the toolbar. A menu will now expand, after which you can press Page settings.
- A window will now open with all kinds of options. You will see four different fields here, we will describe what these fields exactly mean later. To change the title of a menu item, we first clear the Slug field. We do this because we also want the change in the title of the menu item to be reflected in the URL of this page.
We then enter the new title of the menu item at Title. You will now see that the value for slug is automatically changed, but in lower case letters and a dash appears for each space in the title. The reason behind this is that you cannot use capital letters or spaces in the URL of a page.
Description fields
Title This field determines the name of the page, and if you do not enter anything in the menu title and page title fields, what you enter here will automatically also be used for those fields.
Slug With this field you determine the unique URL of the page, which is automatically updated when you enter something in the title.
Menu title: With this field you determine the title that will be displayed in the menu of the website. Only fill this field if you want a different menu title than the value you entered for Title.
Page title: This field determines the page title, which is the text you see in the tab when you are on a certain page in your website. Only fill this field if you want a different page title than the value you entered in Title.
